Hematite is derived from the Greek word for blood as it has a red hue when powdered and is an iron oxide. Hematite is a blackish grey opaque stone, which when extremely polished looks like silver. Engravings on the Hematite are popular and it can be cut as cabochons or faceted.
It is a very efficient grounding stone as it helps a person to see practical issues and take appropriate course of action. It does so by removing confusion and forgetfulness.
